Consumers of meat produced by APROCCIMA, has high standard of care and this is reflected in Ovine meat, where the lambs for slaughter must have quality characteristics of meat and carcasses must contain higher proportions in prime cuts.
With this in mind, we selected dams and sires (breeders and mothers) that transmit carcass characteristics and meat quality superior to their children.
Sheep parents, are selected among other things for its quality of carcass, which are taken into the expectation of muscularity, which will influence the amount of meat produced and the deposition of fat over the muscle, which must have a great point to accentuate the flavor of the meat.
Production factors such as weight gain, precocity, prolificacy (production of twins) and butcher conformation are, along with the breed characteristics, the basis for the selection of dams and sires.
We are currently working with the Ile de races, Texel and Poll Dorset and their crosses to produce lambs of APROCCIMA.
Breeders are vaccinated against clostridiose, brucellosis and footrot and males undergo andrology examination.
